The query letter shows an editor your
writing style, knowledge of the
publication, spelling/grammar
awareness and professionalism.
The editor grabbing article query
letter displays, in a page,
qualifications to write a specific
piece. You become qualified to write
for the publication after reviewing
writer's guidelines, and an examination
of several issues to understand
the target market.
Most editors prefer a query letter
over the completed manuscript. They
get tons of information, manuscripts,
thrown at them, daily. Editors have
turned to "no unsolicited submissions."
The article query letter is a way to
introduce you, your writing, to editors.
The query letter shows the editor your
writing style, knowledge of the
publication, spelling/grammar awareness
and professionalism. A query letter,
too, allows an editor to peel-in his/her
feedback. He/she may suggest a different
view-point to cover, for example.
Sometimes, if an editor liked your
writing style, he/she will offer you
another assignment, even though your
idea didn't make-it in the door.
The query letter is written in standard
business form. Your name, address and
other contact information is typed at
the top. Date the query letter. Address
it to an editor, actual name.
Hook the editor in sentence one with
an interesting idea. The hook can ask
a question, provide information, be a
personal experience anecdote or spot-
light a problem.
The editor is reading about your idea.
Make the pitch.
The pitch, second paragraph, explains
what you're offering. You'll expose
what's to be included in the piece,
article length and how your piece fits
his/her publication.
Paragraph three mentions your credentials,
samples, that makes you the only one to
write the article. Point-out work
published in like publications.
The query letter ends with a thank you
for an editor's time.
In closing, when an editor is interested
in the article, send it right away.
Remember, remind an editor of the request
for your article. Article titles are cited
in query letters and reminders.

Our society, for the most part, is
fast-paced. Micro-poetry fits a need.
People live life multi-tasking, but
enjoy expressing themselves poetically.

It takes time to get comfortable with
a longer poetic form. People are short
on time, and there's not enough hours
in a day to learn the various poetry
forms. Some people want to do more
relaxing than learning in their free
time.
People are looking to stress down in
the small amount of free time
available to them.
The idea of writing micro-poetry is
fun, and it allows to the point
thoughts without spending tons of time.

Passion Not Shared

People Who Don't Share Your Passion
Writing, as with any passion, is as
unique as an individual. It's not
un-common to be around people who
don't share your passion. Passion
not shared has been around since
humans were required to do specific
tasks, work together, if only for
the time to get a task done.
The advice is not complicated.
Learn to tolerate those who don't
share your passion. Be fair with
them. He/she could be a friend.
The two of you could agree to
disagree.
The choices for you: Live with it
or depart from his/her company.
True friends are hard to find, and
no one should end a friendship
without careful thought.
A friend who nags you about your
passion can be grounds to depart
from his/her company. Have you
been asked the following?
"Why do you write?" A friend/
relative. "I mean you've been
doing it forever and you're
nowhere."
"I don't look at it that way."
"Yeah, yeah."
"Many writers in literature..."
"But you're not one of them." The
friend/relative cut you off and
laughed.
If how you're wasting time with a
passion is the topic of conversations
with a friend/relative, it's time
to move away from that person.
An option is to not share your
passion with someone who dislikes
it. Enjoy the company of a friend/
relative, if you can. Keep quiet
about new developments in regard
to your passion.
Realistically, passion not shared
can hurt a relationship, even
destroy it. Comments, remarks,
made about passion not shared
becomes stressful, and will stir-up
doubts. You'll wonder if a change
of passion is needed. Is the
discomfort worth staying in a

Closer Look At The Haiku
The Haiku, known as Hokku before the 19th century ended, is a form of Japanese poetry.
Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902) was the writer credited for Haiku's name. He was influenced by Western culture. Shiki leaned toward the European notion of plein air painting, and he adjusted a style of Haiku, nature drawing in words.
The words plein air painting is french which means "in the open air." It describes out-door painting.
Shiki's verse columns, essays and views became popular in newspapers.
Shiki made Haiku his own by peeling away any resemblance to Buddhism and collaborative poetry. He moved away from the term Hokku, and put forth the term Haiku. The name Haiku has been used in English and Japanese to reference this poetry form, even though the term was around before Shiki.
The traditional Japanese poetry form spoke of nature and what place humans had in it.
Haiku poems are written in 17 syllables, moras. The mora is a sound unit, like a syllable. Moras don't translate well. So, syllables are used.
Haiku poems are 3 un-rhymed lines. The first and last lines holds 5 syllables, and its middle displays 7 syllables.
Some people read nature tales, take hikes or nature walk to prepare for Haiku poetry writing.

To Write Or Not

Secret Writers
Writers, people, have the choice to
write or not as with any option.
Passion has to be mixed into
writing, to do it well. Passion
is a key factor for writers.
Passion, strong feelings, encourages
a writer to jot down four paragraphs
or more on the don't-feel-like-writing
days. It's the igniter when a writer
wants to edit tomorrow, next week.
Passion pulls a writer back to a
writing project.
Passion insures that a writer gets
pass the haters and nay-sayers.
Haters and nay-sayers force secret
writers to stay in closets. They,
too, crush a writer's ability to
stand-up as a writer.
"Get a real job." A hater said to
a friend or relative.
"You can't write." The nay-sayer
sneered. "'Cause you ain't gettin'
paid."
Many jobs, positions, exist where
people don't receive payment, money.
The term for it is intern or internship.
The writer provides writing talent,
and an organization benefits from
a writer's skills. The writer learns
a new skill. Sometimes, the writer
learns more than originally agreed on.
Writers, for the most part, are curious
and like learning new skills. Stir-in
passion with a writer's curious
nature and word pictures happen.
Secret writers shouldn't deny themselves
an opportunity to openly write. If you're
a secret writer, you've made the choice
to write. It's one step out of the closet.
A rejection slip is a part of the writer's
life. It's in the same category as haters
and nay-sayers.
Look through work rejected by a publisher
to find reasons it didn't get published.
Occasionally, publishers will explain
why you received a rejection slip,
rejection of the piece.
Secret writers expressing themselves
in blogs or using social web sites
have half-stepped out of the closet.
Simply, writer-up and be read.
I know from experience how hard it is
to quiet the passion for writing. It
refuses to be still and unexposed.
I can't imagine the plight of the
secret writer.
I, personally, look for positions that
will teach me a new skill, and where
my talents roll-out successes.
People, writers, have the choice to write
or not. Writers shouldn't let haters and
nay-sayers push them into being secret
writers. Call on your passion for help.

Exercise to Inspire Writing
I'm always looking for writer
inspired exercises, methods,
techniques. I stumbled on
inspire-cise, like to take credit
for its creation, by free writing.
Free writing, as you know, is
scribbling down anything that
comes to mind.
Inspire-cise can be used for
writing fiction, non-fiction or
poems.
Inspire-cise uses your living-space,
anything within that space, to
inspire writing. Inspire-cise is
a writing exercise that's easy
and fun to work with.
Let's get started. Look within
your living-space for an inspired
writing idea.
Living-space is a room, car,
trailer, cabin, house or basement.
Focus on the difference that makes
your space unique. Is there something
in your living-space that has to be
written about, or you have specific
knowledge to share.
A step-by-step guide to building
a shelf, replacing a floor or earning
money as a window washer is under
inspire-cise.
Sometimes, your creative flow, attention,
lands on a fixture that ends in a
writing idea.
My eyes ran to the window, within my
living-space. The window isn't big,
but not average size either. The
following took shape.
I yawned several times as wind driven
rain tapped at the window pane. My
clock beamed two thirty a. m.
"Take today off." A voice in the depths
of my mind said.
I splashed back onto the bed and
pondered if Darkid would execute his
threats against my employer, Burger Mart.
Darkid worked every position at Burger
Mart, even the manager's job. What
happened to turn Darkid on Burger Mart?
My buzzing cell phone broke into my
thoughts, and the caller was Darkid.
"Don't do it, Darkid."
"Do what?"
"Everybody knows about your threats."
He laughed.
The line went dead.
My creative flow mixed window into
paragraphs of fiction, to move in any
direction or path.
Often, you'll begin inspire-cise with
one thought, and end with new thoughts.
Inspire-cise works with old and current
writing ideas too.
It's done by selecting a word, phrase
or line that's related to the subject.
Simply, start writing about the word,
phrase or line. Focus on the unique
aspect of the subject or just write.
Sit the writing project aside when
you're done. Go-back in a day or two.
You'll be refreshed and ready to
work with the new writing ideas.

Inspiration: It's Found Near And Far

Reach In Any Direction for Inspiration
There's no shortage of inspiration,
because it's in life, God, Google
or people. Reach in one or all of
the mentioned places to be inspired.
Inspiration is sitting there, waiting
for a chance to show-off in a
writer's project.
"Which direction should I reach into?"
You asked out-loud.
The direction is up to you. Let's
narrow down a possible category.
What's comfortable for you? Life?
Life offers a boundless feast of
inspiration. Take inventory of
your life. Or, take a close look
at any life.
Is there a disability you'd like
to write about? Bring insight to
a condition? Did something happen
that is begging to be written
about? A crisis in a friend's
life would benefit others if shared.
You know of a better way to handle
stress? Many would benefit.
What stood-out on Monday, Wednesday
or Saturday?
You received an award. A step-by-step
guide to tell others how to get the
award is write-worthy.
A mystery showed itself. People have
wondered about a certain mystery for
years, even you. One day, you were
trying to piece it together and the
solution dawned. Write a whodunit.
The list can go on.
Peel away any moment in life to
spin-out fiction, non-fiction or
poems.
The next category is God. Writers
take information, small or big, to
carve a word picture.
"In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1,
"New World Translation of the Holy
Scriptures."
I took a passage from the bible at
random.
Some people have a different view-
point, and believe in evolution.
The theory, with evolution, is that
all species evolved, developed,
from earlier forms.
An essay to address it, your belief,
is a possible writing project.
A second writing idea: Create a
world that displays a third view-
point on the development of man,
plants, the moon.
The third writing idea spot-lights
dinosaurs, extinct prehistoric
reptiles. Why are they extinct?
Smaller versions alive today?
Pin-point other aspects of God
to write about. Your own
experiences as it relates to God?
A direction to look into as
inspiration is Google. Google
as a spring-board to inspiration
involves many features to pick
from.
Google's features is a place to
start, G-mail is but one. The
name, corporation or business
mission are directions to explore.
Would you like to imitate Google?
A goal based on Google's mission
in a specific area? The choice
is up to you, the writer.
Last, people near and far, are
full of inspiration. People bouncing
about everyday, in a different culture,
can set a writer's creative flow
into action.
Have you talked with someone, listened,
and writing ideas zoomed to mind. A
person's mannerisms is fictional
character friendly. A problem re-told
five times pushed you to do research
and write about it?

is up to you, the writer.
Last, people near and far, are
full of inspiration. People bouncing
about everyday, in a different culture,
can set a writer's creative flow
into action.

How to Make Time for Writing
Have a question? Agree, disagree,

It's easy to give yourself excuses
for not making time to write,
and complaining that a writer's
work is sub-standard.
Before long, people will make fun
of you. When words related to
writing part-from your lips, most
will ignore you or nod. Like:
"Sure," A friend.
Or, slice-away two hours, during
the morning or evening, for writing.
When to write is up to you, your
life-style.
The early morning hours, before
your day begins could work well.
Dawn may suit you better. Midnight
is the hour?
Select the same time each day for
writing. It'll become a good
writing habit. It's never too
soon to develop good writing
habits. This time is just for
you, your writing.
Prior to writing time, as you're
preparing to write, think writing
thoughts. Look at a specific
writing idea inside-out. How will
you start writing it? What angle?
What information will be included?
You'll write, often, more than two
hours. Some days, less than two
hours of writing will get produced
by you.

blocks. Continue to write through
them. A few written paragraphs has
the ability to make you feel better
than not to have done any writing
at all.

there are other ways to
record. Notebooks, lined

can serve as diaries.
There's no age limit
for recording in a diary.
A diary, for writers,
holds bits of writing
ideas, later to be painted
into word pictures.
Diaries are tools to keep
writer's block away too.
Jotting down bits of
writing ideas keeps a
ready supply to draw from.
Some think of a diary as
listing the day's events
before retiring, which is
fine. Write daily, weekly
or monthly. How often you
write in it is up to you.
The bits of writing within
a writer's diary must have
substance. Take a look at
the following.

planning."
"Your problem..."

police?

Factors of Poetry

Tempo
Tempo is the speed of a poem.
It swings or slows according
to the poet's mood, words or
how he/she writes a specific
poem.
A party beat poem calls for a
jog. The stroll down memories
of great grandmother requies
a slower tempo. Some poets
naturally have a slower or
faster tempo.
You poems will tell, expose,
tempo.
Slice-in a slower tempo between
paragraphs of faster tempo
poems. Add a dash of pepper
to slower tempo poems.
The objective is to have a
natural flow of poetry.
Lines Vary
Lines grab attention and then
stop. They develop into two
words, three words, five words
or more. Lines beat in tempo,
sway in rhythm and dance to
your beat. Lines jump into
essays, mark stanzas, take
paragraphs at will and knead
songs.
You, the poet, determine how
lines support, shape, your
poetry.
Poems are centered, set to the
left or right margin. Simply,
be creative.
A Thought
Make a note of words, thoughts,
that tickle your interests.
Concentrate on what ignites your
creative flow. Let your thoughts
flow freely.
One Incident
When one incident or thought
helps you write a poem, don't
stop. Twirl the one incident into
as many poems as possible. I've
turned the poem "Auntee" into
several different poems, one
incident.
It's written in Free Verse.
Free Verse poems aren't set
in pattern or length.
Plopping dishes in the sink
Brought those last minutes back,
Of Auntee-
The blank stares,
She slapped hands over her ears
Fighting to block something.
Eyes darting around the room
Rolling to the floor,
Struggling for a hold-
But she lost
Now, Auntee have days
When she's not trembling in fear
Pacing from the loud voices
That reside in her head,
Or screaming at space.
Awakening to focus on me
Small glitter of childhood,
Just as it was--
Then the blank wall stands up.
Patty-Cake
Brings a smile to her lips,
While Buckle My Shoe
Puts glee in her eyes.
It's my turn
To care for Auntee,
With love.
Flashback
I used a flashback in the following Free Verse poem.
Auntee stares became blank,
She slapped hands over ears
Fighting to block something.
Eyes darting around the room,
She folded to her knees
Struggling for a hold
Auntee Lost.
The moment peeled away
When her dish plopped to the floor.
Now, she has days
Of trembling in fear,
Pacing from loud voices
That reside in her head,
And screams at imaginary people.
It's my turn
To care for Auntee.

A Memorable Character

Make A Character Memorable
"Hope there's a sequel." A fan
stated.
"That character reminds me of a
cousin, sweet but smart." A reader
declared.
"If only I could be half as strong
in a situation like that." Someone
said.
"His emotions were conflicted,
because he/she was on the wrong
side." A person commented. "Shame."
"The main character had looks and
morals."
Or, when a friend or relative looks
over some of your work and say,
"I'm enjoying this...it's relaxing."
"I'm glad." A writer responded.
"I didn't know you could write like
that."
"I try."
"I'm going to bookmark your blog,
want to visit it again." A
friend/relative.
"Leave a comment. You might not
like some posts."
"How long have you had it?"
"Two, three or more years."
"Yeah?"
A character, in fiction, becomes
memorable by standing-up for a
cause when doing so is dangerous,
possibly life threatening.
The memorable character is placed
in a situation that makes sense.
The goal is to provide a world
readers can escape into from
theirs, and enjoy the created
world. Readers should like or
hate the main character, feel
sorry for any character. Throw
angry words at disliked
characters. Cheer for a secondary
character.
The memorable character is gossiped
about, lied on and called unfavorable
names.
Memorable character walks on,
chin-up, through the haters.
The taunting continues, but memorable
character finds a chip of happiness.
Some people resort to poking fun at
memorable character's life, family.
They take stabs at tampering with
memorable character's work on the
job.
Memorable character holds onto
morals, values and beliefs to
sustain him/her.
Memorable character's enemies look
like fools, become more aggressive.
The character could call the police.
The character isn't moved, scared,
by enemies. He/she continues to
live his/her life.
Memorable character gets sick,
loved ones pass-away but enemies
hammer harder.
The character survives, to the
dismay of enemies.
Still, the character never gloats.
He/she takes each day as it comes.
Enemies hurt themselves trying to
belittle memorable character.
Memorable character, in the end,
lives well but is forever changed.
Now, how a character lives at the
end depends on the writer.
In closing, all issues, problems,
introduced are resolved at the end.
The issues, problems, slammed on a
character, how he/she handles them
and survives explodes into memorable.

surrounds a haunted house.
People rumor that it's haunted
because death of a popular
person happened in the house
under suspicious circumstances,
or anyone who sleeps in a
certain room of the house
dies mysteriously.

around researching owners of
one house, several generations.
The idea is to locate people
who can give eye-witness
accounts of paranormal activity.
Gatherings are opportunities for
collecting writing ideas. There's
usually more than one generation
to get writing ideas from.
A topic is talked about that
you'd like to write fiction
or non-fiction about.
Perhaps, a family secret was
whispered about. Do you write
fiction or non-fiction about
it? The choice rests in your
hands, the writer.

Song/Sonnets
Some poetry forms use lyrics
that are set to music. Words
picked for a song opens the
mouth, not close it. Simple
words work well. The Sonnet's
first eight lines are termed
sestet. Line eight marks the
ending of a sentence.
In other words, introduce the
theme, develop it, continue and
the sestet takes a new direction.

point and end.

A Haiku poem is the well known
Japanese form. The structure for
the Haiku form is three lines:

Purpose Of Plot

How To Write A Story
Stories have plots, and they
are steps to an exciting new
world for readers. The steps
to a new world discovers
what's happening to whom,
when, where and why it's
happening.
The short story, in fiction,
dramatizes one issue,
situation. The one issue,
situation, is the one factor
that makes it different from
novels.
Short stories starts with an
interesting character in some
place, and involved in a
serious issue, situation.
The main character, protagonist,
is in the middle of an issue,
situation. The issue, situation,
suspends disbelief and takes
the reader to a believable world.
The story must move forward,
or readers will toss it aside
for the next writer's work.
The main character is thrown
into complications that gives
insight to his/her character
and issue, situation.
The main character's aunt,
uncle, brother, mother or
father can't solve it. Or,
he/she can't walk away from
the issue, situation.
The protagonist grows at the
end of a story. The last
effort at resolving an issue
pushes a protagonist to sources
that he/she wouldn't have
considered before, or didn't
know existed.
Story development must resemble
life. Good fiction creates
illusions of real people trying
to correct an issue, problem.
The middle increases pressure
on the protagonist to resolve
the issue, problem. The pressure
is conflict.
Conflict shows a character's
involvement, and his/her life
depends on the success/failure
of resolving an issue, problem.
Surround the main character with
a cast of characters that have
a stake in it.
Conflicts, setting and characters
help bring the plot to a conclusion.
The beginning and middle are
developed. The story comes to an
end.
The main character works to fix
the issue, problem, at least,
three times.
One more try, and all the stops
are pulled out. Every nook and
cranny is examined to help the
main character with an issue.
The main character's solution
surprises everyone. Still, the
ending is foreshadowed by
preceding actions. Every action/
reaction leads to this moment.
The mixture of circumstances and
effect brings a story to its
climax.
In conclusion, plot is how a
story unfolds into a unique world.
Conflict is poured in to move the
story forward, and it's up to the
protagonist to resolve an issue,
situation.

How to Write a Dramatic Scene
Have a question? Agree, disagree,

A dramatic scene is four paragraphs,
two pages or ten pages but explode
onto the page in vivid images.
It must have a reason to exist,
purpose. A dramatic scene is
well thought-out.
A successful dramatic scene
happens when opposing forces
are in the same space. The
opposing forces believe in
their position, cause. They
resist change and have
convincing arguments. Plenty
of emotion is stirred into
the situation.
The encounter of opposing
forces gives information,
seeks information, informs,
convinces, compels, or logic
prevails.
The final action delivers a
winner, loser or quitter.
A sequel follows. The sequel
explains how the opposing
forces feel, their state of
mind which leads to the next
scene.
Visualize a scene before writing
it. Ask questions during the
visualizing process. How will
opposing forces react to factor
A? C? What's at stake? What's
the state of mind?
See the scene from beginning
to end in your mind. Act it out,
if necessary. Experiment to
determine what works best.
Take a look at an example from
my book, "Grave Street House,"
published in 2007. The main
character, Amanda, is having
another conversation with her
cousin, Lena, about dare taking.
The story is told from Amanda's
point-of-view.
"I didn't mean to spy, but you
have another dare going? Let's
talk about it."
"Dare is to ask out an older man,
nothin' else to talk 'bout."
"Do you and the caller play games
like that often?" I sighed.
"Jealous? I bring the only
excitement to ya're borin'
existence?"
"I'm just trying to help you,
Lena."
"Who asked ya?" She snapped.
"Ya can't even help ya'reself."
"You're not going to upset me.
Don't you feel bad for what
happened to Mrs. Rosetti? That
alone should make you not
want to do another dare."
"If ya hadn't tripped over Mrs.
Rosetti's orthopedic shoes she'd
never woke-up. It ain't my fault
her heart is bad. Last time I
wanna hear 'bout that dare.
We got one last dare for old time
sake. Place of my choice."
"You didn't hear a word I said.
No, I don't think so."
"Amanda!"
"We're both nineteen." I tried
to plant doubt. "Don't you think
we're too old for childish games?"
"Feel better? Now, the dare: The
person that spends two hours in
Grave Street House is winner of
all time.".
"You nuts? Let me tell you the
story of the Kane family. Before
you came to live with us nice Mr.
Kane lived there, his wife and
five-year-old daughter. He stayed
to himself, and worked at the
factory where Mother retired from.
Mrs. Kane was only seen outside
shopping or going somewhere in the
car with him. She never sat on the
porch or walked outside to chat."
I took a deep breath and said, "One
Halloween night he stabbed her
fifty times and killed himself.
Their daughter slept through the
whole thing."
"But what that got to do with
our dare?"
"You've seen how anyone going
in the House is either carried
out or changed forever."
"We'll be together."
"I better leave for work."
I couldn't muster up the
energy to confront Lena again.
In conclusion, a successful
dramatic scene involves opposing

Sarah Palin's Gettysburg Stop

The sun began to peep at Tuesday
morning when supporters and
reporters congregated in front
of Sarah Palin's bus in a hotel
parking lot, former Alaska
governor, whose third day of her
East Coast tour is expected to
include stops at the Civil War
battlefield and maybe a trip
to the Liberty Bell in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Yesterday, Palin was reserved
about the possibility of
plans to run for president
in 2012.
A reporter asked about her
plans, "I don't know, I
honestly don't know. It's
still a matter of considering
much, there truly is a lot to
consider before you throw your
name out there in the name of
service because it's so all
consuming."
One Nation tour was a ploy to
play with the media.
"No, that's not the purpose,"
Palin.
Palin was asked what a
presidential run might look like
if she made one, Palin said that
it wouldn't be like those of her
potential rivals for the GOP
nomination.
It would be unconventional and
nontraditional, Palin.
The indecision isn't stopping
the support Palin's getting in
Gettysburg.

Hackers Post Log-In Information From PBS

Online hackers, The Lulz Boat,
stole into the PBS web site and
posted a story that the rapper
Tupac Shakur who has been dead
for almost 15 years is alive
and living in New Zealand.
The hackers stated that they
posted passwords of journalists,
log-in information for the PBS
series "Frontline" and
sensitive information about
PBS stations.
The "WikiSecrets" documentary
aired last week on the PBS
show "Frontline." United States
Army Private Bradley Manning's
father and close friends were
talked to.
Manning, a military intelligence
analyst, is suspected of leaking
hundreds of thousands of classified
documents that ended up on the
WikiLeaks web site.
"Anyway, say hello to the insides
of the PBS servers, folks. They
best watch where they're sailing
next time," The Lulz Boat.
PBS acknowledged the hack early
Monday morning.
The Lulz Boat created a page in
the pbs.org address. It reads
"ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO
LULZSEC." The title of the page
is "FREE BRADLEY MANNING.
(expletive) FRONTLINE!"
The group's bio states: "We are
LulzSec, a small team of 80-year-
old men and people who smoke on
webcam. Right?"

are situated around your space.
Keep great fashion ideas written
by the bed. New dress ideas are
pasted to the mirror. I'm going
to have a creative day is
plastered to the front door.
Quotes, remarks, from a favorite
designer can adorn the television.
You'll reach a destination ready
to work.
Quotes are writing prompt sources,
and ideal for bursts of writing
ideas. Take a look at the
following quote.
"You must, first, believe in
yourself."
Read it out-loud, more than once.
Get a feel for the words. Make
yourself comfortable with them.
Don't just say them. Live them.
Spin the words around your mind.
How can you use the words
toward creativity?
Start writing about the quote.
Apply it to a specific writing
project, or just scribble
anything. The more you write,

President Obama Celebrates His Irish Roots

President Obama landed in Dublin
today as the sixth United States
president to visit Ireland and
celebrate his Irish roots.
"It is heartwarming to be here,"
Obama stated. "People even
arranged for the sun to come
out shortly after I arrived."
Presidents John F. Kennedy,
Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan,
Bill Clinton and George W.
Bush visited the small island
home of 4.5 million people.
His visit will include an
hour-long visit to Moneygall,
in County Offaly, where his
great-great-great grandfather
was born in 1830, and a speech
in Dublin at an outdoor concert
to tens of thousands of people.
Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton are
the most celebrated presidents
to have visited. Kennedy came
first, in 1963, just months
before his assassination, and
spent three days. Reagan visited
another tiny village south of
Moneygall called Ballyporeen to
celebrate his family's ancestry
there.
Clinton helped to bring peace
to Northern Ireland in 1998
through the signing of the Good
Friday Agreement.

Interview: Master It

The time has come in life when
a job change is needed, the
current employer down-sized,
or you out-grew a job position.
A search high and low turned up
a job interview. Be prepared.
Take time to visit the
organization's web site. Look
at the mission statement. The
mission statement explains an
organization's purpose.
The mission statement cited
that the organization is going
green, for example.
Refer to it in an answer that
you'd like to share in the
experience. Or, pick another
point to stir-up an answer
with. Always, be upbeat.
Your answers should reflect a
positive attitude.
The interview day arrived.
Don't focus on how nervous
you are.
Arrive at the interview, at
least, forty-five minutes
earlier than your appointment
time. It gives you an opportunity
to freshen-up, and get
comfortable in your new
surroundings.
Take a deep breath before the
interview, several. Organize
your thoughts, and avoid using
slang words.
The word money isn't uttered
from your lips. Push the
following unit of words,
thoughts, out of your mind.
Any idea when I'll get a pay-
raise? Although, maintain eye
contact.
Be respectful of those you
encounter. "Good morning." A
person rushed by you.
Some would say nothing, but
respond with a greeting. It
could be your interviewer.
Below are possible questions.
Why are you looking for
employment?
I'm looking to share my
experiences with a new
organization, and learn
new skills.
What do you want to share?
I'm organized, detail
oriented, and communicate
well.
A supplier contacted my

Calls For Dominique Strauss-Kahn To Resign

sexual scandal he's facing.
Strauss-Kahn's situation has led
to calls for the IMF chief to
resign.
United States Treasury Secretary
Tim Geithner and European Union
finance ministers are among
those calling for Strauss-Kahn's
resignation.
The sexual assault charge against
Strauss-Kahn has rendered the
62-year old IMF chief no longer
capable of running the fund,
Geithner.
Geithner pressed for the IMF
executive board to designate an
interim head, although the fund
had named on Monday another IMF
official, John Lipsky, as
temporary replacement for
Strauss-Kahn.
Austrian Finance Minister
Maria Fekter backed Geithner's
call.
The court's refusal to grant
the IMF head bail is hurting
the fund's image, Fekter.
Due to the extraordinarily
serious charges filed against
Strauss-Kahn, he should make
the decision to step down from
his post, Spanish Finance

Murder Charges Filed in Execution Style Slaying of MTV Producer

was charged with murder Friday
and two male accomplices were
charged with robbery in a
shotgun crime spree.
The spree added up to 10
robberies and two homicides
over 11 days in the mid-town
area of Los Angeles,
according police.
One of the homicide victims
was 30-year-old MTV music
coordinator Gabriel Ben-Meir,
killed by a shotgun blast
to the head in the early
morning hours Sunday after
parking his car outside
his apartment, police.
Ben-Meir worked on several
MTV shows that included
"Punk'd" and "Nitro Circus."
The other homicide victim
was Marcelo Aragon, 35,
who was killed on April
30, authorities.
The female suspect, Young,
was also charged with five
counts of second degree
robbery, prosecutors.
Richard Edward Anderson, 33,
of Reseda, California, was
charged with six counts of
second degree robbery,
prosecutors.
Jabaar Vincent Thomas, 26, of
Los Angeles was charged with
three counts of second degree

a felon in possession of a
handgun.
Thomas is a convicted felon
who was paroled in December,

Sit down. Develop a writing

as the writing idea is spun
into being.
Writing ideas await in a haunted
house, at work or on the
trains' platform.
Is there a house in your
neighborhood that's rumored
to be haunted. Perhaps, facts
say it is haunted. Put your
own spin on a writing idea.
Take a look at my writing idea.
"Who is it?" Maureen shouted
through the door.
"Me."
"Sal?" Maureen opened the
front door.
"Mac's gone and his paws can't
handle the cold."
"How did he get out of the
apartment?" Maureen motioned
with her hand for Sal to come
in.
"Alls I know is when we walk
pass the haunted house, he'd
stop and bark at it."
"But..."
"And," Sal interrupted Maureen,
"a bad feeling comes over me."
A loud bang thundered...
What would you write next?
Get in the good habit of looking
at writing ideas from different
view points.
A decided on writing idea is the
plot. How a problem is played-out
unfolds the plot.
Every story has a beginning, middle
and it ends. Be fair with the reader.
Leave no question introduced in
the story unanswered.
Populate the story with characters.

to be haunted. Perhaps, facts
say it is haunted. Put your
own spin on a writing idea.
Take a look at my writing idea.
"Who is it?" Maureen shouted
through the door.
"Me."
"Sal?" Maureen opened the
front door.
"Mac's gone and his paws can't
handle the cold."
"How did he get out of the
apartment?" Maureen motioned
with her hand for Sal to come
in.
"Alls I know is when we walk
pass the haunted house, he'd
stop and bark at it."

"And," Sal interrupted Maureen,

Take Down Osama bin Laden in a Video Game

week after United States Special
Forces killed Osama bin Laden at
his compound in Abbottabad,
Pakistan, allows players/gamers
to re-enact the circumstances
that took down bin Laden.
KumaWar Episode 107- Osama 2011,
the latest in a series of free
online games based on anti-terror
themes. The game gives players
the chance to lead the team that
took down bin Laden.
The game offers one variation on
the actual mission, and it's
that the virtual Special Forces
can suffer casualties.
"In forty minutes and a rain of
hot lead, a decades-long,
worldwide manhunt for Osama bin
Laden will be ended... by you,"
the web site of New York based
Kuma Games, which released online
the first person shooter over

A Person's Karma

I'm from the school of thought
that believes a person's Karma
dictates development of life,
the quality life takes and
death rides in on Karma. In
other words, you reap what
you sow. Or, what you send-out
to the world returns, good
or bad.
A pattern of behavior comes
back to the sender. It doesn't
matter the behavior: lying,
thievery or fairest of them
all.
The Bible explains Karma
better. "For whatever a man
is sowing, this he will also
reap..." "New World Translation
of the Holy Scriptures."
The word Karma isn't mentioned
in the verse.
Let's look closer at Karma
according to Wikipedia.
Karma comes originally from
Shramana tradition. Buddhism
is an extension of the
tradition. The Brahmanic

this tradition, early in the

A photo of Osama Bin Laden's
bloodied face went viral on the
Internet and was reproduced on
the front page of newspapers
around the world, but it's a
fake.
The Guardian newspaper in Britain
reported that the photo is a
combination of two photographs.
A bloodied corpse and a real
image of Bin Laden that was
taken in 1998, used by the
Reuters news agency.
The fake photo splashed onto
the Internet hours after Bin
Laden's death and was picked
up by news groups near and far,
in places like Pakistan,
Afghanistan, Senegal and Iraq.
U.S. officials are still deciding
whether to release an actual
image of Bin Laden's corpse.
"I'll be candid that there are
sensitivities here in terms of
the appropriateness of releasing
photographs of Osama Bin Laden in
the aftermath of this firefight,"
White House Press Secretary Jay
Carney explained to reporters
Tuesday. "We're making an
evaluation about the need to do
that."

Sony hired investigators to catch
the hackers behind a security
breach that exposed the personal
data of more than 100 million
video game users.
Sony, the Japanese electronics giant,
retained a team from Data Forte,
which is led by a former special
agent with the U.S. Naval
Criminal Investigative Service,
to work alongside agents from the
F.B.I., who are also looking into
the matter.
The situation became worse after Sony
admitted that hackers stole into its
servers on the 16th and 17th of
April 2011.
Hackers may have stolen personal user
data. This time, hackers targeted the
accounts of Sony Online Entertainment
(SOE) users per Sony. It includes
personal data from approximately 24.6
million SOE accounts, as well as some
of the data from an outdated database
from 2007.
This database includes about "12,700
non-U.S. credit or debit card numbers
and expiration dates, not credit card
security codes, and about 10,700 direct
debit records of certain customers in
Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Spain."
The newly discovered attacks are being
investigated. SOE has shut down all
servers related to SOE services.
Sony has apologized to its customers
for any inconvenience and promised to
send emails to all customers whose
data may have been stolen.

Lindsay Lohan, 24, was “blindsided” after
being sentenced to jail, while many
speculated that if her charges were
reduced from felony theft to misdemeanor
charges, she'd be able to escape any
time behind bars.
TMZ reports that didn't happen, and she
was slammed with three months of hard
time, plus 480 hours of community service.
Lohan was in custody about five hours
after her hearing. She then posted
bail and is expected to appeal the
judge’s decision on jail time.
It all started on January 22 when she
allegedly left Kamofie & Company, a
Venice, California jewelry store,
with a $2,500 necklace. Lohan was
caught on surveillance tape trying
on the necklace and departing the
store with a group of friends
She is “angry” about how things ended
up “because she has been working so
hard on turning her life around --
She didn’t do what they said she did.
She didn’t steal that necklace,” said
producer Nathan Folks, a friend of
Lohan.
Lohan made a statement on Twitter:
“With my family and thinking of my
grandfather whos birthday was yesterday
and unfortunately passed away a few
years ago… i am just grateful for the
life i have, i cannot explain how excited
i am to begin working on films again, on
top of that- i better get one of my two
favorite scripts that i am in love with.

Why would this son, husband, brother or
father allow the House to seal his fate.
It disliked anyone that entered.
He disappeared into the House. His
footfalls echoed throughout. Cries
for help blasted from within. The
assistance he needed was from an
ambulance or coroner. The House that
stole souls claimed another unwilling
victim. Something or someone evil
lived in the bowels of that structure.

The White House has DNA evidence
and photographs proving that
Osama Bin Laden is dead, and is
deciding whether to release them,

burial at sea.
Senior lawmakers want photos of
Bin Laden's corpse released to
quiet skeptics in the Arab world,
and then there are conspiracy
theorists in the U.S.
"They'll have to make that judgment-
there are some who are talking about
confirmation. Perhaps this will
provide it in some parts of the
world," Condoleezza Rice, former
secretary of state. "There's really
no reason to doubt that Osama Bin
Laden is killed and now that chapter
is behind us and he's been buried at
sea. I don't think there's any reason
to doubt that."

Passionate Writer

Passion leads To Success
Passionate is defined as showing
strong feeling, intense, according
to Webster's Desk Dictionary.
Passionate writers can't afford
to put-off tomorrow what can be
written today. Writing ideas
jump-out continuously. Waiting
for another day bombards a writer
with too many possible writing
ideas.
Make notes on a writing idea as
it exposes itself. When time
wedges itself between writing
idea and writer, the original
idea gets lost. It's next to
impossible to remember what the
writing idea was.
Carry a note-pad, text yourself,
to record/remind yourself of a
writing idea.
When you're ready to write, refer
to your notes.
Passionate writers, intense writers,
find time to write. Give, at least,
two hours per day to writing,
grooming your craft. It's rare for
passionate writers who are
successful not to scribble on a
regular basis.
Passionate writers must write to
become better which leads to success.
Passionate writers take writing
seriously. They work on areas of
weakness. Run-on sentences a problem?
Brush-up on punctuation. Spelling is
a problem. Spell-check several times.
A suggestion is purchase a dictionary
to understand how trouble-some words
are spelled. Notice how words are
broken into syllables. Learn to spell

Passionate is defined as showing
strong feeling, intense, according
to Webster's Desk Dictionary.
Passionate writers can't afford
to put-off tomorrow what can be
written today. Writing ideas
jump-out continuously. Waiting
for another day bombards a writer
with too many possible writing
ideas.
Make notes on a writing idea as
it exposes itself. When time
wedges itself between writing
idea and writer, the original
idea gets lost. It's next to
impossible to remember what the
writing idea was.
Carry a note-pad, text yourself,
to record/remind yourself of a
writing idea.
When you're ready to write, refer
to your notes.
Passionate writers, intense writers,
find time to write. Give, at least,
two hours per day to writing,
grooming your craft. It's rare for
passionate writers who are
successful not to scribble on a
regular basis.
Passionate writers must write to
become better which leads to success.
Passionate writers take writing
seriously. They work on areas of
weakness. Run-on sentences a problem?
Brush-up on punctuation. Spelling is
a problem. Spell-check several times.
A suggestion is purchase a dictionary
to understand how trouble-some words
are spelled. Notice how words are
broken into syllables. Learn to spell

Danger: Sugar More Toxic Than Thought

Sugar is toxic according to an
incendiary article that sparked
concern and debate from experts
to the average home.
It's a glucose-fructose combination
that add extra calories to our diet,
Gary Taubes in the New York Times
Magazine article "Is Sugar Toxic?"
but its consumption is an independent
risk factor for heart disease, high
blood pressure and many common cancers.
The liver, as Taubes explained, is
where sugar's damage begins. "In
animals, or at least in laboratory
rats and mice, it's clear that if the
fructose hits the liver in sufficient
quantity and with sufficient speed, the
liver will convert much of it to fat.
This apparently induces a condition
known as insulin resistance, which is
now considered the fundamental problem in
obesity, and the underlying defect in
heart disease and in the type of diabetes,
type 2, that is common to obese and
overweight individuals. It might also be
the underlying defect in many cancers."
The recommended daily allowance of sugar
is about six-to-nine teaspoons of sugar a
day, for an average person, CBS News Medical
Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton. It's
estimated that the average American is
consuming about 90 pounds of sugar a year.
The high fructose corn syrup, sucrose,
fructose, in theory, does the same amount
of damage to body cells.
Sugar stimulates our pancreas to release
insulin which stimulates the liver. If
it's not used as fuel for the body, it
turns into fat. Years of consuming sugar
can lead to the pancreas being worn out
and diabetes.

Good Writers

Good Writers Are Reader Friendly
A good writer, in my opinion, is
reader friendly, not trying to
prove how many technical words
he/she knows and grammatically
correct.
A good writer's work is reader
friendly, and the title not only
pulls attention but holds it.
Good writers unveil one point at
a time to readers. Points are
messy when other ideas and thoughts
are sprinkled in.
Good writers inspire readers to
react. Like:
"Aww."
"It put me asleep."
"I'd like to give that writer a
piece of my mind."
Responses to good writing varies.
The writer's goal is to get a
reaction/action.
Writers, from time to time, research
subjects. During the course of research,
writers come across technical words.
It's nice to learn new words, and
interesting as a new topic is appreciated.
However, the process of discovering
technical words is more stimulating
for researchers than readers.
Most people would prefer to skip the
look-up every other word as they read
step. A good writer speaks to the
reader, or the reader comes-away with
"that" feeling.
A good writer isn't trying to prove
anything. Simply, he/she is providing
information to readers that's
grammatically correct.
A good writer will make grammatical
errors, because few get every word
perfect in a writing project. The
editing process is done more than
once to handle them.
Readers will move on to the next
writer if his/her reading pleasure
is interrupted by grammatical
errors, every third or fourth word.
It's very important to slice-away
grammatical errors. Grammatical
errors, too, mark writers as amateurs.
A good writer's work is inviting,
isn't shouting, "I'm smart" and
without grammatical errors.

Last hour budget discussions
avoided a partial government
shut-down and President Barack
Obama will lay out his plan for
long-term deficit reduction
demanded by conservatives this week.
White House Senior Adviser David
Plouffe was on Sunday talk shows
to reveal Obama's intentions and
deliver the administration's message
that more deals like the one reached
last Friday night with House Speaker
John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Senate
Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada,
will be necessary as Congress and the
administration face more major budget
decisions in the coming months.
Obama's plan would address rising costs
of Medicare, Medicaid, cut defense
spending and raise revenue by ending
tax breaks for the wealthy, Plouffe.
"He does believe that to grow economically,
to be a strong country, we can't sustain
this fiscal situation," Plouffe explained
on CNN. Acknowledging some dissent among
the president's liberal base, Plouffe
continued, "there are some that don't
agree with that, but he believes strongly
that we do have to engage in serious
deficit reduction."
Last week, Obama and congressional leaders
reached an agreement to cut $38.5 billion
in non-military discretionary spending for
the rest of the current fiscal year, ends
on September 30.
The deal came about an hour before funding
authorization for the government was scheduled
to expire, and would have partially shut down
government operations.

In life, you'll be asked to
compromise, no matter if right
or wrong. The word is thrown
around when people tire of
talking, looking for
solutions or doing what is
right.
Often, people pull-out the word,
compromise, when they feel
talking will not help toward
their goal. Look at some of
the excuses used for not talking
it out.
"You can't talk to her.
"I don't have time for this."
"He won't listen."
Webster's Dictionary defines
compromise as a settlement, each
side makes concessions.
In reality, one side usually
compromises more than the other.
One side receives more.
Don't allow yourself to be pushed
into a compromise unnecessarily.
Be on the look-out for those who
make it a practice compromising
when talking is just as effective.
These are people who after doing
wrong still can't get their way,
and pull-out the "C" word.
Every possible solution should be
exhausted before compromising. It's
an exercise in human communication.
A giving and exchanging of
information is healthy, mentally
stimulating.
The solving of a problem takes effort,
adult behavior. The universe is
stuffed full of answers. It's simply
a matter of finding the right one.
If you're passionate about the
problem, you'll find an answer.
People who are wrong and want to
appear right will urge you to

compromise?
Finally, really listen when people
are rushing you to compromise.
Determine if it's right for you.
